Your Role and Responsibilities
The Summer Internship Program is a cornerstone of our University Relations program. IBM Research India provides internships to the best students from Tier-1 technical universities in India. Students get a chance to have real experience of industry-level work through work with advanced technologies. Tasks would include paying free intern jobs at the laboratory with ongoing projects, where problems are solved in a high-impact domain under the guidance of a mentor. The overall goal is to offer insight into the industry and identify potential future employees.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in Java and Python including knowledge of pandas. NumPy.
- Data Structures, Algorithms, and a good problem-solving approach.
- Background in linear algebra, probability, and statistics.
- Hands-on experience with tools such as VS Code, Jupyter notebooks, and Git.
- Understanding of AI/ML concepts such as supervised and unsupervised learning, classification, regression, neural networks, and clustering.
- Data analysis and manipulation with large datasets.
- Knowledge of AI libraries such as TensorFlow or PyTorch and deep learning. Foundation Models, Large Language Models.
- Experience with AI platforms such as Watsonx.ai or similar alternatives
Technical Requirements
- Hands-on experience with AI/ML frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch
- Proficiency with Jupyter notebooks and deep learning techniques
- Skilled in data manipulation tools like pandas and NumPy, along with statistical methods
- Familiarity with version control (Git) and containerization tools like Docker, Kubernetes, or Openshift.

Role and Responsibilities
This program is open to students from the premier technical universities of India on invitation, and they have been selected strictly based on their performance. The program offers an industry-relevant journey and the ability to exhibit top-end technology with some exposure back to the future stars. Under the guidance of mentors, interns are assigned to ongoing projects within the lab and work on problems that can be solved in real-world terms. Its goal is to give them real-world experience in the industry and to identify possible future hires.
- Top-notch programming skills in Java or Python (with pandas, and NumPy experience)
- Strong in Data Structures, Algorithms, and Problem Solving.
- Linear algebra, probability, statistics

- Knowledge of discrete mathematics, cryptography (encryption, decryption, key management set-up, and cryptographic algorithms like AES, RSA, ECC), Basic knowledge of operating systems, and network security.
